The pinnacle of intention is to create spaces designed to accentuate wellbeing and happiness; fluid, light filled spaces which connect their occupants to the wider community. Ultimately, to applaud the capacity for growth and opportunity that comes with growing older and challenge the myth of the inevitability of sudatory living
Theoretically, Urban Exchange is grounded in research highlighting the profound impact of living space on wellbeing in older age, initiated by Dr Jacqueline Venencia of the University of Liverpool. Followed by the collaboration with entrepreneur Paul Bowness, to the creation of Urban Exchange.
Welcome to Urban Exchange - a new, small scale, artisan development of loft style spaces designed specifically for older clients looking for a more contemporary approach to living and design.
The intention - to create a balance between style and comfort reflecting truthful design and sensitive consideration of function; ultimately designing wonderful homes for an important but overlooked, sector of society.
We find properties located within easy access to an abundance of stylish restaurants, bougie cafes, theatres and landscaped parklands, all located within city living thresholds –traditionally associated with the residency of younger clientele
The positioning and design of the apartments represent a space for collaboration and innovation – a place to feel connected with prospering communities bustling with inter-generational communities surrounded by culture, diversity and opportunity.
The apartments are Innovative, cool - a far cry from the staid, formulaic ‘homes’ which have dominated senior property developments since their conception in the early 1980s.
At Urban Exchange think architectural features which facilitate a space for living where comfort and style are equal contenders, anchored in the philosophy of hygge representing a lifestyle radically different from the traditional modals of residential living. The spaces echo a loft style ambience – exposed brick, modern linear kitchens, integrated appliances, high ceilings and oversized windows to allow generous, natural light.
A flexible open layout allows for comfortable, social use of the space – and the possibility to curate and arrange décor to be inspiring , but minimal. The high ceilings provide a sense of space – and opportunity to display artisanal work of inspiration …along with the earthiness of exposed brick which serves as a fabulous backdrop to textile and natural furnishing .
